First off, there are a lot of correct answers to the question presented in the title of this blog. Secondly, although no one but I actually care about this, I have not made a blog in quite some time. I have not seen a particularly heavy influx of new work or anything like that. I just think that I got really lazy. For those of you who do not experience such things, gtrying to integrate a new activity to your schedule as a lazy person is almost as difficult as playing a double reed instrument. All nerdy band jokes aside, I hope that I can finally start doing this regularly(do not hold your breath). Now, onto the good stuff.
Yesterday was district band; yay. Robert and I were the only tubas because we(mainly Robert) are awesome. The experience as a whole was great on my end and I am anxiously awaiting for Erin to put the videos online. On another band related note, today Ryan and I went to Concert Band and we both played the bassoon part. I feel sorry for the bassoons because even in Concert Band level music they have crazy jumps and play notes in a range larger than that of the music I usually play in Symphonic Band. Nevertheless, it was fun helping out the brass bandies and was far more productive than a day in Mr. Holmes class would have been.
Problem of the Day-
Day #4(Technically)- Club Participation.
Alright, I have been lacking club focus lately. However, today I got things done. I aided in leading We, I am actually reading the evidence for LD for state quals, I am accepting the consequences for my grievous mistakes at Winter Congress, and I am working on my duties in Film Club. I have nothing to stop me from learning the Indo-Pak dance either, thus I do hope to get back on track after a terrible week for my extra-curricular endeavours. Side note: never join as many clubs as I am in, for I am not even sure if those are the only clubs I am in and that really messes up your schedule.

"Is it even really worth it?"
I will start off by sayin that "it" is referring to the pursuit of romance, in the first sense. Now the members of The Magnificent Seven have differing opinions about the subject. From discussions, you can see some very severe consequences to the action proposed in the question. If you ask a good friend, you risk losing said friend, you could hurt other friends in the process of a multi-party romantic web, the damage rejection alone deals can be damaging enough as it is, etc. On the other end, there are some base, clearly cliche, arguements. Could you really be happy knowing that you never gave it a chance, if you really like the person, then it should be worth risking awkwardness to possibly gain something more, and if you don't, then you are just a bitch. First off, a question that I think must be addressed when answering this question is, "do you like this person enough to risk the consequences of failure for?" If not, then obviously you should not pursue. If the answer is yes, then I will be a bitch and say that it is up to the individual, for some people just lack the mind set to do such things. Personally, I suck at this kind of thing, thus I cannot say anything hypocritical. However, I would like to be the one to actually ask a person. =(

Back at School
Well, I have decided to no longer work on the indentation problem. I no longer see any real point behind it for in no way will it substantially increase my ability to get my points across. However, it is now such a trivial matter that I must digress. Today was not that bad. Really, aside from band class, I did next to nothing in my classes today. So it was a pretty easy day back. I am still as literal as ever. When Erin was explaining "Wicked" to me and how this guy was turned into a scarecrow, I was thinking;"How is a scarecrow animate?" Also;"Would a scarecrow not have all of his straw blown away by the heavy winds essentially ending the illegitamately animate being's life?" As you can tell, I am a very dull person. Aside from those odd thoughts going through my mind and the great news that we have a game tomorrow, my day was very boring.
Problem of the Day-
Day #3- Spanish homework apathy.
As you have and will begin to notice, a lot of my issues have to deal with apathy towards my work. That happens to be a good thing seeing as I can work on these types of issues easily. I get A's and the occasional B on all of my Spanish tests and quizzes. However, the homework issue has begun to "grind the gears" of my Spanish teacher. Thus, it is a very good thing that I did this homework, not only because of my grade, or to avoid my teacher's wrath, but also because I have yet again realized that it is extremely easy and that I am an idiot for not taking the five minutes out of my already lackluster schedule to do it. Yet again, do not be like me in the sense of having all of these easily dealt with issues about yourself. I hate to sound preachy, but I would like to think that maybe one person looks at this section and think,"maybe I should do something about my life?" I do not know, but a guy can hope.

I am not any of you, so I cannot speak for you, but I found this one to be kind of straight forward. If you go out and make a big scene right away, you tend to come off as an intimidating person. People do not like intimidating entities. The basic human instinct of self-preservation kicks in and tells you to avoid such intimidating presences. However, if you are to start off slowly, and come off as calm, you tend to be the approachable type. A lot about meeting new people and doing well in life comes from your approachability. This may seem pretty short and to the point compared to my other rants, but I find it to be significant none the less. Thus, I advise that we all try to come off as a little less out there than we really are. For people that may not know you can get the wrong idea. So ease into things, and there will be boundless new opportunities that will present themselves to you. Alright.
Final Note:
I am embarking on a mission of a dangerously high magnitude tomorrow. May the deities of good fortune shine their light upon me.

A Day at Barnes and Noble.
Alright folks, today was a day of sacrifice for me to say the least. Today was the final day of my nine day vacation and how do I spend it? Being stuck in Barnes and Nobles for three hours and then going home to do nothing for another eight. All of this after getting five hours of sleep after a fourteen hour long day away for a debate tournament. Now all of that may seem terrible...because it kind of was, but it was for a very good cause. My friend Brian Woo was in a bind for himself and a friend to get out of the house that day to see a movie. I live like three blocks away from the movie theatre, yet I was asked to drive seven miles away to pick up these two friends of mine. This was a challenge for my mom would have to go that much farther out of her way to let me go out on a day that I was supposed to stay at home and do homework. I decided to cash in the favour I can ask from winning the trophy the other day, I only get one favour out of this by the way, in order to aid Brian. So my mom picked them up and dropped us off at Barnes and Noble. The two went off to see a movie as I stayed at Barnes and Noble and did...absolutely nothing. Then, they went to go eat while I stayed at Barnes and Noble again. This lasted from 10:30a.m.-2:05p.m. Now you may be thinking to yourselves,"what kind of friend is Brian to make his friend stay at a bookstore all day?" However, not only did Brian ask me to come along to both the movies and to eat, he even offered to buy my ticket for me. I just decided to stay behind today. Then, at like 2:05p.m., I dropped the two off and went back home where, as you know, I did nothing.
Problem of the Day-
Day#2- English Homework Apathy.
In all honesty, even though I am in an honours level English class, I have not a read a book that was assigned to me for any of my English classes since seventh grade. Thanks to this very detrimental habit, I can barely maintain the A- I have received in my English classes throughout my high school years. I have yet to see any true fruits of my labour yet, however, with my homework considerably easier(duh) and my understanding of the material without the need to bug Rebecca in the morning, I am hoping for an easier quarter in Ms. McGrady's class. Like I tell everyone else I know, please do your homework, do not be like me.

Note: Andy did not actually give me this quote, but looking at her AIM screen name made me think of this classic quote, thus she indirectly influenced today's rant.
Now, when we look at this quote, what we can derive from its meaning(I can) is that no matter what you are given in life, you can always make the best out of things. You do not need all of these flashy things or fancy cover ups to develop a completely coherent and acceptable persona. I will be taking this in two different directions today: one being that of people that wear too much make up(lol) and the other being people who try to be something that they are not. First off, this would not be in my rant except for the fact that I was talking to one of my friends earlier about how girls that wear too much make up look pretty darn scary. Listen ladies(and some guys), I know my opinion probably does not matter to you, but the thing is that if the make up you plan to wear takes longer than ten minutes to apply, more than likely, that is way too much make up. There is no one on the planet so ugly that you need that long to make yourself look acceptable(and hey, if you are, all of that make up is wasted effort, I am telling you that right now). The thing is, people look good with the all natural look, and it is what, I am sorry to all non-monotheists, God pretty much intended upon. I am not saying all make up is bad, but it is bad to cover up the real you with a bunch of overpriced junk that probably will not have that high of an enhancement effect. Secondly, many people, especially in high school, seem to see it fit for them to take on personalities and styles that are not their own in order to gain an external acceptance from the people around them. This, as a whole, worsens the relationship between you and the people you are trying to gain acceptance from in most cases and is totally not good for yourself either. You are you, there is, for the most part, nothing wrong with that. If you have to change who you are in order to gain the acceptance of others, than these really are not the kind of people that you should be associating yourself with. It just really is not smart. So the entire point of this is to say that we as people should work with what we are given because, contrary to our own self-conscious reservations about ourselves, really is enough to show others what a great person you really are. Alright.

I HATE BLOGSPOT.COM!!!
Alright, so as promised, here is what is irritating me. When I do my draft of my blog posting the indentation is clear and obviously there. However, whenever I post my blog the indentation is no longer there. Either I am technologically illiterate(most logical), blogspot.com sucks(it does, but not the correct response), or a little bit of the two(I seem to slowly be realizing that it is my fault). I hope to get this right before the end of the month. Time for the good stuff.
So today Kenny Shiu and I were debate partners in novice public forum debate(do not laugh because it is novice). We had spent a considerable amount of time on our case the day before and it turns out we went undefeated; 3-0 baby! Well that was quite the fun day, obviously only because we won. Had the outcome been different I would be singing a different tune. I got all of my opponents to agree that outsourcing to China helps out our economy which was very enjoyable. Even though after looking at the ballots and being in the debates, I realized we only won because the judges were so enamoured with Kenny(I am not saying that is a bad thing, we would have taken the win regardless of reason). That pretty much explained my day; the tournament was technically from 6:30a.m.-7:00p.m.
NEW SECTION TIME!!!
Problem of the Day-This is a new section that has to deal with the ranting topic from yesterday. I have decided to attempt to fix an issue of mine everyday and eventually hope to improve as a person.
Day #1- Debate apathy.
Even though this is my second year in Forensics, today was the first time I went to a debate that I had actually prepared for. In the past I just went into things without a care. I had never won a trophy either; obviously the spoiled fruits of my non-existant labour. However, today I had studied up on the topic and prepared speeches and everything. Obviously this was a good thing because Kenny and I received trophies for an undefeated record and are now JV level public forum debaters. I can already see that this section is improving my life. I encourage all others to attempt to do the same.

"Age is just a measure of life on Earth, love is a measure of life in the soul."
No description for the man made this up on the fly; I know, he is pretty darn clever.
Remember that these are meant to be ambiguous, thus more than likely you and myself will have conflicting views of the topics. So on that note I will begin my interpretation of this quote. A lot of the people in this world of ours, especially the high school students I know, are too busy worrying about their work and do not take the time to smell the roses. You need to learn to enjoy the ride, not just worrying about how you are going to get there. We all need to take a break once in a while(hooray for nine day vacations). If you stop stressing out so much, get some rest, and just enjoy life, then things like school can seem like less of a chore. Today I am clearly not up for good ranting, I lost all of my bullshitting ability at the debate tournament, but the point remains to be crucial to the lives of people everywhere. I would just like to advise all of the three people out there that read this to not worry about all the trials and tribulations life presents you with and just go with the flow. Although highly absurd sounding, the principal that having a good balance of work and relaxation improves the hegemony of yourself is constant. Alright.
Final Note:
Today I brought a good luck charm with me to the debate tournament which, although very superstitious of me, clearly aided in the victories attained today. I would like for the people that read this to try and guess what I brought with me as a good luck charm. For those who were there and know what it is, please be vague in your answers.

The Eve of the Debate
So today this thing better indent when I make it do so or I will be very much agitated. For I do not wish for tomorrow's blog to entail a large section entitled: "I HATE BLOGSPOT.COM" Now onto what was important in my life today. Staring off at 1:45p.m.(Yes I know, a very late time to start your day).
So tomorrow I have to go to a debate tournament. First of all whoever decides to put a debate tournament in the middle of a nine day break away from school either does not have kids or hates theirs for this is just evil. However, it is not time wasted. I went to Kenny's house at the aforementioned time and began to go over the evidence. Even though we had this evidence for about two weeks, this was my first time reading it. Most of the evidence was heavily sub par to my needs and Google was of little help. We somehow made it through the writing of speeches and whatnot after a grueling four and a half hours. I am now attempting to forge some evidence to fit my needs better(I only started doing this this year and wish that I has started sooner). Luckily my entire day was not filled with debate, although it sure felt like it.
I got in a disappointing hour of tuba practice. It was disappointing for two reasons: one being that I usually practice for longer periods of time and two being that I sounded terrible(even though I usually sound terrible, I sounded especially poor today). Then I did what I always do when I get home; sit at my computer and go on AIM. A sad life I know, but... wait, no buts, its just really sad. All I am doing right now is writing a blog, talking on AIM, and watching Youtube videos from the Big Bang Theory. Then I get to wake up early so I can get to school by 6:30a.m. for my debate tournament. I have no somewhat interesting stories, just a habitually bland life. I am done in this section.

A brief description of the quote:"Unhappy people tend to shut down in the face of a problem; happy individuals take action to solve their problems. Optimists tend not to get mired in blaming themselves for doing what's wrong as pessimists do; they focus on solutions."
I would like to take this a step further by stating that there are no true optimists or happy people. At times we all fall into unhappy ruts or become pessimistic towards a situation. There in lies the clear issue presented by this quote. Whenever we as normal people are presented with a real problem, we by the tendency of human nature, shut down and either pretend it does not exist or complain about why we "cannot do anything about it." People will make excuses and wait for time to heal the wound or have someone else solve the problem for them as if action need not be taken and everything can just go back to the way it was before. The truth is that when presented with a real problem, the only proper solution is to take action. So few do and that is the sad part. As people who know me can deduce from my first and definitely my second ranting section, these rants will be heavily hypocritical of me. Alas, that is a problem that I myself will continue to let alone(you can see the hypocritical tendencies of my life unfold before your eyes). Anyways, back to the topic at hand. WE as humans tend to actually need a crisis scenario to truly see what our lack of effort has brought into fruition. When did we do something about slavery? After we took a look at the farms and saw animals being treated with more dignity than humans. When did we end woman's suffrage? When we saw women being treated like slaves. When did we stop Hitler? After a racial genocide that took out millions of Jews and other people that did not fit the niche of the aryien race. I do not believe that anyone who reads these blogs of mine has an issue as serious as racial genocide, but it might take something that shocking to get you to realize what is truly going on in your lives. To own up and realize that this is your issue, that you have only yourself to blame, and that you need to get off of your lazy ass and do something about it. Allowing for the majourity of this generation to go about life with such a lackluster mindset will lead to tragedy upon tragedy. We need to start taking action, and maybe we can begin to set a better example for the future, because that is what we need to be doing right now. Alright.
Final Note:
I have some very pressing issues to deal with. I should probably make a "to do list." If I start now at an average rate of one objective per day, then I will be done by...(calculating)... February 24th, 2089. I better get started. Maybe that can be a new section in my blog? Only time will tell.

A Day Without Boots
Now, this is my very first blog entry, so please do not judge its quality too harshly. As the title clearly state; I did not wear boots today. Now for those of you that do not know me all that well, although if you do not I question why you are reading this, I have worn boots since seventh grade. I am now in eleventh grade; quite the amount of time. One thing that I was able to do today that I could not do with boots, although I doubt that I will be able to do it again anytime soon, is outrun a car. Allow me to elaborate.
So today I got out of my house to do one of the two film projects that I am a part of for my high school's film club. I was supposed to film while sitting on the hood of a moving car, but did not get the chance to do so(Only a minor disappointment). So we got our filming done relatively quickly, but the running around left me quite tuckered out. So then I play basketball with the guys... and Trixy. By now I am very tired and my feet hurt for my new shoes, a pair of vans, have little to no lumbar support. So we go to Happy Sashimi and order up some food. A shotgun roll at level five which is so hot the guy asks us if we have heart problems before he can legally serve it to us. However, before we get our food, Schwanka and I walk on over to pick up Dyana and take her back to the restaurant(I hate all of this walking). So we get back and apparently Bryan just threw up. Bryan had eaten a slice of the roll whole and needed to regurgatate. Brian Woo took his like a man though. Then Dyana, Schwanka, and myself dug into one roll a piece and the torture began. Luckily my spider roll saved me for it cooled down my mouth; I ♥ Spider Rolls. Then I did something very stupid, I ate a second piece of the roll. I ended up spending $33.75 to not be able to taste any of my food. So at this point I am full to the point of illness and am heading back to Collins Elementary for more basketball. Trixy's mom wants to give us all a ride, but there was not enough room for us all. So Daniel and I, idiots as we are, race the car back to the school. We so won, ask anyone there, we won. Thus, that is how I outran a car today. The ultimate suprising part being that I was exhausted and full at this point in time.
Random Ranting Section:
(A quick note: I am a dreadfully bored soul with a lot to say. Thus, I will be choosing a rondom thing on my mind or a friends mind and giving my opinion about it. I doubt anyone will read this section, but I do not care too much about that).
Today's ranting topic is provided by Erin Miller.
"What is your truth of the moment?"
A brief description of the quote: "I've come to believe that much of our misery comes from not being willing to acknowledge the truth of the present circumstance. We can deny what is really going on (in our lives) or complain that it shouldn't be the way it is, but nothing good comes from not realizing the truth of the moment."
When I was first given this quote, I thought nothing of it, but then I began to see its inner lining. The quotation in question is a clear reference to a majour issue that is affecting one of my closest friends. The person shall remain nameless, but my elaboration shall continue. Although this does not only pertain to what I shall be speaking about, it has a large role in the situation at hand. When one thinks of the trials and tribulations of romance, I always think back to what one of my good friends Ashley has told me, "William, guys are blind when it comes to love. You allow the truly great oppurtunities in life pass right before your eyes as you continue to see yourself shot down time and time again by obviously flawed pursuits." I totally paraphrased that, but I do not think that she will mind( I thought that sounded pretty good if I do say so myself). What a lot of us do not realize, especially when it comes to love, is what is basically hitting you in the face. Guys, the girl that truly has feelings for you and would do well with you is staring at you from the corner of the room as she watches you try ever so hard in order to win the heart of a failed prospect. This especially goes out to you guys that continue to fail in love. What you need to do is take a step back and really take a look at your surroundings. Is the truth that you really do not need or want a relationship? That you only see all of these couples popping up left and right and believe that the only way for you to be normal is to be in a relationship yourself. Is it that you go after these girls you think and cute and nice, when in reality you let someone that you see as a good friend sit on the sidelines when all she wants for you to do is recognize her as someone that is desireable to you? Could it be, that all of these frivolous and poorly thought out romantic ventures of yours are hurting you far more than it is helping? Let us all reflect upon this quote and think to ourselves, "what is the truth of the moment?" Let us all figure out what is really going on in our lives and try to improve. Let us all take a step back from the mayhem, and take it easy every once in a while. Alright.
Final Note:
Today I played Schwanka in Super Smash Brothers Brawl fourteen times and won 12-2 finally proving that Mr. Game and Watch is superior to Marth.
Thank you for reading.
